Memorial Weekend - YARDWORK!

Most people go out and do something fun for Memorial Day Weekend.  What did we do?  Yardwork.  Some much-needed yardwork!  Last year when we bought our new home there was much yardwork to be done.  As in.... put in an entire yard... again.  When we were looking for our new home, Steve had 3 requirements:  #1 - he didn't want to put in another yard, #2 - he didn't want to finish another basement, and #3 - he wanted a decent sized garage.  Well, 1 out of 3 isn't bad, right?  He did get his decent sized garage at least. :)

I don't think I took any pictures of the sad shape of the yard before we started working on it.  But I did get one pic before we had the sod laid, so you'll just have to imagine it was even worse than this for starters.  Steve worked pretty non-stop last summer and early fall on getting everything cleared, leveled, and the sprinkler system in.  (Thanks Steve!)

Here is the pre-sod photo...

And here is the post-sod photo...

So last summer we got the sprinkler system and the grass in, then over Memorial weekend this year we started adding some trees, shrubs, and plants, etc.

Aren't those cute little pine trees?  Hopefully they'll be cuter bigger pine trees in a few years.

Then a week or so later I planted some cute flowers...

Zinneas are about my absolute favorite!  Can't wait till these get big and beautiful!

And here's our new little yard at sunset, with a pretty pink and lavender sky.
