Eric's First Day of Kindergarten!

Where has my little baby gone?  He is starting school for crying out loud!  My sweet little buddy is off to Kindergarten today, I can't believe it.  One of us is a little more ready for this than the other.

Here is how the day began:

Still fast asleep... about to be woken up for his big first day!

His delicious choice of breakfast... Hostess donuts.  He doesn't know how valuable those could be one day soon :)

 Angry Birds backpack of course!

 No turning back now!

His smart teacher had activites at each table, ready to go.

And once he started playing with the blocks, he never looked up, he was fine with staying there.  No tears, at least not from Eric...

Getting on the bus to come home

His requested after-school snack: indoor s'mores

And then lunch with mom and dad.  He may or may not be eating his McDonald's Happy Meal at Cafe Rio ;)

Our Little Budding Artist

Eric is quite the little artist.  He is always working on an art project of one sort or another.  He always wants Steve or me to draw him or print him a coloring page so that he can color it with paints, crayons, pencils... whatever medium he feels like expressing himself with for the day.

He has converted the kitchen table into his semi-permanent art center.  Luckily we mainly eat at the bar so that he has room for such a creative space.

And we aren't allowed to throw any of the creations away either.  We have to save them all, in a box, in case he needs that picture for later.  99% of his pictures are of Angry Birds, his die-hard passion.

Well, the other day he wanted to look at all of his pictures, ALL of them!  So Steve said that was fine, as long as he cleaned them up when he was done.  I came home to find this:

If you can imagine such a thing, the 5 year old actually didn't clean up his own pictures!  Yah, it turns out he was "too tired."  So... the father who allowed such a thing had to clean it up.  Live and learn, right Steve?  ;)

Taylor is the BMOC

This year Taylor is the Big Man on Campus.  He is in 5th grade, which means he's made it to the top of the elementary school food chain.  Here are some pics of his big first day:

Same nutritious breakfast as his brother... Hostess donuts!

And Taylor's after-school snack of choice, marshmallow brownies.

Eric started Kindergarten this year, and got to meet his teacher on the same day the older boys started school.  He wanted to take his backpack too, since he was going to the school and all :)

 I can't believe he's getting so big!

His cute teacher, Mrs. Jarvis

Ready or not, here he goes!
[ He's ready, just I'm not :) ]

Porter's First Day of Middle School

This fall, Porter started middle school.  It seems impossible that I have a child old enough for that, don't you think?  Don't answer that out loud, please :)

The night before school started, the middle school had a "Back to School Night" just for the 6th graders, and Porter said I was allowed to take a picture with his teacher that night, but never again. Really? Never again? ( --sad, sad sigh-- ) I guess we'll see about that.

His awesome homeroom teacher, Mrs. Russell.

Now here's where the sappy mother takes over. I swear it was only yesterday when he was going to his first day of Kindergarten!

(...in his favorite wolf shirt, might I add...)

Feeling brave and excited, holding hands with his dad.  How adorable is that?

(August 28, 2006)

Here's Porter with his best buddy, Sam.  I know everyone says it, but time sure does fly.  I even (kind-of) miss those crazy little 5 year-old Bubba days...

Ok, fast forward to the present again.  This is what he wanted for breakfast on the first day of middle school.  Mmmm... breakfast of champions, right here.

And here are a couple pics that I was allowed to take of him before heading to the big first day.

And here he is with the after school treat he chose: rolo cookies.

I keep telling them to stop growing up, but for some reason, they're not listening!

Football 2012

Around these parts, when Autumn comes, it's time for little league football. This is Porter & Taylor's second year of playing tackle football. They think it's so fun. I love that they work hard and are enjoying it, but I also love that they're TIRED at night!

Here they are on Sept. 28, 2012 - Homecoming Night in Morgan (thus Porter's face paint)

Porter's season...

Porter's team motto this year was: "Play Like Champions!"

And they did.  Porter had some amazing coaches this year, who wanted every kid on the team to have a starting position.  It was so great.  Porter played on defense.  It was fun to watch his team come together and learn more and more each week.

He was a little disappointed at the beginning of the season when he didn't get on the same team as one of his good friends.  But by the end of the season he had a lot of new friends, and he was so glad he had the coaches he did.  He felt like he learned so much about the game this year...  it was awesome.

Here are a few pics of Porter's season...

Nice stretch Porter!

And Taylor:

Taylor was excited to be on the same team as some of his best buddies.  He played on the offensive line this year, but you could've probably guessed that.  Ha Ha.  All 74 pounds of him!  His team did really well, and was able to go to the playoffs.

Here are a few pics of Taylor from this season...

Good job boys!  They sure did have fun.
