Spring Break - 2012

For the past 20 years, my family has been going to Southern Utah each Spring to ride 4 wheelers and motorcycles.  There's just something about that red dirt that keeps us coming back!

When my older siblings and I used to be in college, we'd always go over Spring Break.  We usually like to go to Canyonlands, about an hour south of Moab.  Although, we have gone other places as well, such as Caineville, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, or Hurricane.  We always refer to this trip as "Spring Break" or "Moab", although neither is really terribly accurate.  Now we just try and find a time when most people can make it each Spring, it's not necessarily over Spring Break anymore.  We usually camp, but sometimes we stay in hotels, depending where we go.  We are all getting a little "soft" in our old age, and campers and trailers have become a "must!"  We have come a long way since our poor days of college camping :)

Of course this year, like every year, I took hundreds of pictures, so I just tried to narrow it down to some of my favorites, but there are still a lot.

Here is the view of our little camp from above.  We put the trailers together and made a lovely little shady breezeway.  It was genius.

Cactus cousins...

A little super-glue-denist-work done on Scott by Dr. Mark, DDS...

And the bike that started it all...  Dallin got this little PW 50 for his 5th birthday.  Then it was Byron's, then Porter's, then Taylor's, and now Eric's.

Avery found a rattlesnake right near camp that the boys caught and killed.

One of the best things about camping... the s'mores of course!

And then of course they had to cook up the rattlesnake.  Most of the boys ate some.  Um, gross.

Always lots of fun hiking...

One day we decided to head into Moab for a swimming day.  It turned out to be a great idea.

The best part of the trip:  hanging out with some of my favorite people.

And it wouldn't be Spring Break without someone's bike breaking down.  Lucky we know this great mechanic named Daren.

Hmmm... here's a handsome rider.

Nothing like cooling off in the AC and watching a movie when the sun is getting hot outside...

Taylor made his own little fire pit by himself.  How cute.

And here's another night of eating gross things around the campfire.  On the menu tonight is chocolate covered worms and crickets.  Dee-scusto.

And here's the whole dirty crew.  We had a small (but fabulous) group this year.  Nothing like the red dirt
to bring us all together.
