Easter Sunday

Our Easter was a lot of fun this year.  Here
is a little warning though.  This post is kind-of a picture overload.  Sorry about that, but it's for posterity, you know :)

Here are the boys dying eggs a couple days before...  Very intent on their little egg masterpieces.

The Easter baskets, aaaaand there is Smokey... probably wondering where his basket is.

Checking out the goods...

Ok, so the Easter Bunny was kind-of lazy at our house this year.  He (or possibly she) hid the eggs inside.  And to make it worse, the weather was quite lovely.  I know, a little bit lame.  I'm pretty sure I never did an indoor egg-hunt in all of my childhood years.  The boys didn't think it was weird at all, or at least they never said it was.  Hopefully they won't be scarred or anything in their later years.

I know I'm biased, but aren't they handsome?  And yes, I'm "that mom" that still tries to make them match a little bit every Easter.

Yes, and Steve with a matching tie too.  And ok, I'll just admit it right now.  I wore a dress that I thought matched them all.  There, I said it.

After church, we met some of our favorite people for a little picnic, the Bentleys and the Montgomerys.  (There are many Montgomerys, so I'll clarify, the Scott & Kim Montgomerys.)

Here is Taylor with his red-headed step-brother, Cache.  And that would be Cache's handsome older bro, Brek.  Cache and Taylor are probably somehow twins separated at birth or something.  They were pretty inseperable when we lived in Too-ly.

Eric and a couple of gorgeous girls... Kalae and Sam.

 Scotty & Kimmer

Darin & Teree

And can you tell I'm getting old?  I love the big sunglasses.  Just call me Jackie O.

See what I mean, about them being like brothers?  That would be my son doing the head-slam.

Boston, Porter, and Maya.  (or you could call her Elly if you like, but I always call her Maya)

A little Sabbath basketball...

Then, leave it to Scott to come up with the random kid entertainment of the afternoon.  I think every kid had about 10 turns each with the burrito blanket rolling, till he was out of breath.

This pic is my favorite.  Click on it so it's big and you can see Rico's face.  It's sheer joy.

And to end the afternoon, Porter talked Elly into pitching to him for a while.  He was in heaven.

Then Elly was done, so it was Steve's turn.

It was such a fun day.  The weather couldn't have been more perfect.   Hopefully we will continue our Easter picnic-ing for years to come.

Kicked Out!

Has this ever happened at your house? Sometimes, throughout the night, our boys each trickle in and climb in our bed. The bed gets more and more crowded, until finally Steve and I
end up in the boys' beds.

I always tell the boys that they're "killing me!" the next morning, but secretly, I love it. Who doesn't love to snuggle with their babies? Even (or should I say, 'especially') the big babies. Not enough years left of this for sure.

An Easter Semi-Sort-of Tradition

Easter Bunny cakes. These are an Easter tradition, or at least they were when I was a kid. Cath (that's my mom, although I don't think I have called her "mom" since I was about 14...) used to make these every year around Easter when I was younger. I'm not sure if I have ever made these with my kids before, but surely I can repent and make these a tradition for my kids from here on out, right?

Here are the steps:
Make a white cake and bake in 8" round pans (you can see I went all out and used a box-mix).

Slice the cooled cakes in half, and stick the sides together with some buttercream frosting.

Now cover the cakes all over with buttercream.

Get your best helpers to wash their hands and put the coconut on (this is the bunny fur).

Give your little bunnies a Hostess Snow Ball tail.

Let your helpers decorate with a face and ears. Toothpicks work good for the whiskers.

Now get one of those cute helpers to pose with his finished product :)

HAPPY EASTER everybody!

Cub Scout Talent Show

Tonight our ward's cub scout troop put on a talent show for the nursing home in Morgan. The boys did an awesome job, and then served donuts. We have some seriously talented boys around here!

Taylor played his recital song, "Hiawatha," it was so great!

Fashion Sense

Despite my best efforts to stop him, Eric is growing up.
Now he's even choosing out his own outfits. Luckily he's got some amazing fashion sense!

Eric Loses His First Tooth!

Eric, aka, "Rico", has lost his first tooth! Isn't 4 years-old kind-of young for that? Or am I just wishing my baby would stay little for a while longer?

The "before" pic, he still has all his teeth...

Tying the floss on...

About to tug...

And... tooth in his hand, not in his mouth!

The "after" pic... just about nothing cuter than that!

Biography Projects at School

The past couple of months, Porter and Taylor each had to read a biography for school. Taylor's class made posters with cut-outs for faces and arms.
Taylor read about Tiki Barber, who played for the
New York Giants.

Only your mother would make you really put your arms through the holes and pose for a picture like this.

Porter's class did a wax museum where you could put money in their cup and they'd "come to life" and tell you about their characters. Then they donated the money to the school library. Pretty cute.

Porter chose to read about Sandy Koufax, a Hall of Fame pitcher for the Dodgers. (You guessed it, the Dodgers).

Colby, Karson, & Porter
(Of course Porter and his friends all chose an athlete to read about.)

And... no biographies read by this guy yet.
